Limited fibrosis of the lingual segment of the left lung on physical CT examination

If the fibrosis in this area is not serious, it is not the same thing as a diffuse lesion, so there is no need to overly panic. However, there are certain hazards associated with the lesion, one being recurrent infections, because secretions around the fibrotic foci are not easily discharged and easily retained pathogens can cause secondary infections; there is also the possibility of deformation of the surrounding normal lung tissue caused by contracture of the fibrotic structure, resulting in distension or compensatory emphysema, which can affect lung function. Both of these conditions are more likely to occur the older you are, so for the sake of future quality of life, it is better to have some treatment if possible.
