Upper gastrointestinal bleeding can be categorized as follows depending on the degree of bleeding:
1. Mild bleeding, the blood loss is usually less than 500 ml in adults, and the blood pressure, pulse rate and hemoglobin will be normal;
2. moderate bleeding, blood loss is usually 800~1000 ml, there will be a drop in blood pressure, and some clinical manifestations can occur, such as thirst, oliguria, dizziness, weakness, and so on;
3. Severe bleeding, blood loss greater than 1500 ml, there will be a systolic blood pressure, as well as a decrease in hemoglobin, there will be syncopal cold of the limbs, cold sweat, panic, extreme weakness, oliguria or anuria, there may be a change in mental status, the patient appears to have shortness of breath, the drop in blood pressure, the amount of bleeding usually exceeds 1,000 ml, and there can be a manifestation of peripheral circulatory failure.
