Symptoms of tetanus allergy

Tetanus allergy usually refers to an allergy to tetanus antitoxin. Its symptoms include skin rash, anaphylaxis, nausea and vomiting.
1. Rash: It is manifested as skin rash, red spots, swelling and pain at the site of tetanus antitoxin injection and its surrounding skin, sometimes accompanied by itching of the skin.
2. Anaphylactic shock: manifested by the patient’s pallor, sweating, accelerated heart rate, weak pulse, lowered blood pressure, respiratory distress, etc., which may even be life-threatening if not treated at this time.
3. Nausea and vomiting: patients have fever, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.
Therefore, skin test must be done before injecting tetanus antitoxin, only when the result is negative can we continue to inject tetanus antitoxin, otherwise it will cause very serious consequences. Patients are advised to take tetanus antitoxin injections under the guidance of specialized doctors and to prepare for resuscitation measures.
