How long does it take to complete a dental implant?

The overall treatment procedure for artificial dental implants takes about 3-6 months and is divided into the following three stages: 1. Pre-operative examination and formulation of the implant treatment plan: systematic examination of the missing tooth site and the entire oral condition, taking oral x-rays and treating them accordingly. The implant treatment plan will be made according to the patient’s specific situation and an appointment will be made for the implant surgery. 2. Implant surgery stage: Under local anesthesia, the artificial tooth root, i.e. the implant, will be surgically implanted into the alveolar bone, usually it takes about 10-30 minutes to implant an implant, and there will be no pain during the surgery and less reaction after the surgery. If there is insufficient bone in the missing tooth area, some artificial bone powder material will need to be implanted to supplement it. Overall, implant surgery is a less invasive outpatient oral surgery. After the implant surgery, patients do not need to be hospitalized, they eat soft food on the same day, they cannot brush or rinse their mouth for 24 hours, and they usually take oral anti-inflammatory medication for 3-5 days. It takes 2-6 months after the implantation for the artificial tooth roots to bond with the alveolar bone, during which the patient can wear temporary dentures; 3. Usually, the crowns are metal porcelain crowns, which are of excellent texture, realistic color, comfortable and beautiful, satisfactory in restoring function and durable. After wearing the crown to complete the final restoration, it needs to be reviewed every six months to a year for regular maintenance to facilitate the long-term use of the dental implant.
