Can diabetes cause stomach problems?

Gastroparesis can occur in diabetic patients, mainly manifesting as gastroparesis, which is commonly associated with poor glycemic control and functional changes in the gastrointestinal tract. Gastroparesis is characterized by abdominal distention, especially after eating, and in severe cases, nausea and vomiting. Patients often have other clinical manifestations of diabetic vegetative neuropathy, such as neurogenic bladder and rapid heart rate at rest, so the diagnosis of gastroparesis in diabetic patients requires the exclusion of organic pathology. If there is poor glycemic control over a long period of time, it can cause related gastric disorders, but the presence of organic pathology needs to be excluded before the diagnosis of diabetic gastroparesis, or diabetic neurogenic bladder, and diabetic autonomic neuropathy can be made.
