How to confirm the diagnosis of novel coronavirus

Confirmation of novel coronavirus pneumonia requires a combination of epidemiologic history and clinical presentation. First, patients with fever, or respiratory symptoms, who have visited an infected area or been in contact with a patient from an infected area or an area with ongoing local case transmission within 14 days prior to onset. Second, patients with fever or with imaging features of coronavirus pneumonia, normal or reduced total white blood cell count and reduced lymphocyte count early in the onset of the disease had any two of these symptoms. In addition, a positive coronavirus nucleic acid test on a respiratory specimen or blood specimen is required. These must be met to confirm the diagnosis of novel coronavirus pneumonia.
