What is the pain in one side of the shoulder?

There are many reasons why a patient may have pain on one side of the shoulder. For example, if the patient’s shoulder is overworked or strained, or if there is a long-term chronic injury that causes old damage to the muscles and soft tissues of the shoulder joint, or if there is a rotator cuff injury, there will be pain, and in some cases, there will be a limitation in the functional activities of the shoulder joint. If the affected shoulder joint muscle is cold, there is poor blood circulation in the muscle and blood stagnation will also cause pain, and this pain will increase when moving. When this symptom occurs, the first treatment is to advise the patient to keep the shoulder joint on the affected side warm and not to strain it. Local hot compresses, Chinese herbal fumigation, or ointments to activate blood stagnation, promote blood circulation and disperse nodules, and reduce swelling and pain can be applied externally. It is also recommended that the patient take blood-boosting medications orally, which can help the injured muscles and soft tissues recover as soon as possible and effectively relieve clinical symptoms.
