The Proper Use of Band-Aids

When using a band-aid, the width of the band-aid should exceed the size of the wound. It is especially suitable for hemostasis of acute small wounds with neat incisions, small wounds and superficial wounds that do not require suturing. 1. When using the band-aid, because the wound may have been contaminated, it is necessary to use saline or water to rinse the wound surface. 2. After rinsing, gently remove any dirt or foreign matter from the surface and depth of the wound. 3. Then rinse the wound again with plenty of saline or water. Deeper wounds need to be rinsed with hydrogen peroxide solution. 4. Wipe the wound with iodophor cotton balls or 75% alcohol pads. 5. Wait until the wound is slightly dry and then remove the Band-Aid to bandage the wound. It should be noted that when removing the stickers on the surface of the band-aid, the fingers should not touch the absorbent pad to avoid contamination of the absorbent pad. One-handed use can first paste the healthy side, and make the center of the absorbent pad against the wound bandage; two-handed use can first be the middle of the absorbent pad against the wound bandage. If the wound is large, the bandage is not applicable and should be sterilized and bandaged in the hospital.
