How to regulate children’s excessive sweating

Sweating in children is mainly categorized into superficial deficiency (weakness of the muscle surface leading to abnormal sweating), Ying-wei disharmony, and qi and yin deficiency, which need to be treated with different medications to regulate the symptoms. Children with superficial deficiency are mainly characterized by spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the day, aggravated by the slightest movement) or night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep and stopping sweating after waking up), obvious sweating on the head, shoulders and back, which is worse when they move, and fatigue (mental exhaustion and physical weakness), with a less florid complexion, and are susceptible to cold and flu. Treatment is Yu Ping Feng San combined with Oyster San to benefit Qi and consolidate the surface and astringent sweating. Children with Ying-wei disharmony manifest predominantly self-sweating or night sweating, sweating all over the body, slight sweating, persistent sweating, or half-body or localized sweating, and slight fear of wind. The treatment is Astragalus and Gui Zhi Wu Wu Tang to harmonize Ying and Wei (to make the internal and external qi of the human body smooth, each in its own way). Children with deficiency of qi and yin show predominantly night sweating, often accompanied by spontaneous sweating, sweating all over the body, more sweating, fatigue, and heat in the hands, feet and heart. Treatment is with Sheng Wei San to benefit qi and nourish yin (tonifying qi and nourishing yin fluids). When a child’s sweating symptoms are more serious, it is recommended to use under the guidance of a professional physician to identify the symptoms, not blindly self-medication.
