How long can a pancreatic tumor live?

The survival time of pancreatic tumor patients is relatively short, about 1-2 years, and the specific time is related to postoperative recurrence, treatment and patient’s physical quality. Pancreatic tumor is a common clinical malignant tumor of the digestive tract, most often occurring in the head of the pancreas. Early patients have no obvious symptoms and are easily missed. When patients develop symptoms such as intractable pain in the upper abdomen, jaundice, wasting or gastrointestinal bleeding, they have already developed to the middle and late stage, and the treatment method is mainly surgery. Since chemotherapy and radiotherapy are not very effective for the disease, the survival time of patients is shorter than other tumor patients, about 1-2 years. If recurrence or metastasis occurs within a short period of time after surgery, the survival time of patients is even shorter. After pancreatic tumor surgery, the patient’s diet is more affected, so the quality of survival is poor. It is necessary to consider using parenteral nutrition, or targeted drug therapy with less side effects to prolong the patient’s survival time.
