The severity of abdominal pain in gallstones is mainly related to the changes of the disease. For patients with simple gallbladder stones, the main manifestation is paroxysmal colic, mostly after a full meal or eating fatty food, which is usually tolerated without affecting sleep and diet. If the gallstones are combined with cholangitis, the abdominal pain will be obvious and radiating to the right shoulder or back. If the bile duct obstruction is not released and the inflammation is not controlled, it may develop into acute obstructive purulent cholangitis, at which time the abdominal pain is unbearable and there will be pressure pain and rebound pain throughout the abdomen, also accompanied by chills, high fever and jaundice.
