Heart palpitations is a term used in Chinese internal medicine to refer to a condition in which the patient feels a sharp pounding in the heart, panic and anxiety. From the perspective of Chinese medicine, it is mainly due to deficiency of qi and blood, yin and yang, or phlegm and blood stagnation. In modern medicine, all types of arrhythmias with panic as the main manifestation can be treated with reference to the chapter on palpitation. From the perspective of Chinese medicine, they can be divided into Qi deficiency, Yin deficiency, Yang deficiency, Blood deficiency and so on, and the prescriptions can be used in combination with tongue and pulse diagnosis. In modern medicine, various types of arrhythmias require electrocardiographic or 24-hour ambulatory ECG monitoring to check the nature of the arrhythmia. Common types include premature beats, various types of tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, etc., all of which can be manifested as panic attacks and are classified as palpitations in the internal medicine of Chinese medicine.
