How often to change the diaper

Diapers are usually changed once every 2-4 hours. The number of diaper changes is not fixed and depends on the number of bowel movements and urination of the baby. Usually, newborns need to be changed after defecation. The need to change the diaper after urination is determined by the amount of urine and the capacity of the diaper. If your newborn drinks a lot of water during the day, the diaper may be soaked in about 2 hours, so you need to change it in time to prevent your newborn’s red bottom or bacteria from growing and triggering a UTI. If the newborn sleeps for a long time and drinks relatively little water, it can be changed once in 4 hours. Newborns can change their diapers 1-2 times while they are sleeping because they defecate less during sleep. 0-28 days old newborns usually need to be fed 2-3 times at night, about 2-3 hours apart, parents can check the swelling of the diapers while feeding and whether the baby defecates to decide whether to change the diapers or not, so that parents can reduce the number of times they get up at night. This will reduce the number of times parents have to get up at night. If a newborn baby cries loudly at night because he or she feels uncomfortable after defecating, change the diaper promptly and soothe the baby to stop crying at the same time.
