Gypsum can be taken by decoction of 15-60g, then decocted and taken internally; Zhi Mu can be taken by decoction of 6-12g and taken internally.
1. Gypsum has the effects of clearing away heat and fire, removing vexation and quenching thirst when used raw; when used calcined, it has the effects of collecting dampness, regenerating muscles, astringing sores and stopping bleeding. It can be used for treating exogenous fever, lung-heat asthma, high fever and thirst, hyperactivity of stomach fire, headache, toothache, eczema, itching, ulcers and scalded by water and fire.
The herb can be decocted and often 15-60g is taken and broken up and then decocted first. Gypsum is not suitable for people with cold spleen and stomach and non-solid heat.
2. Zhi Mu has the efficacy of clearing heat and diarrhea, nourishing yin and moistening dryness (nourishing yin essence and clearing heat), and is mainly used in treating exogenous heat diseases, lung-heat and dryness cough, high fever and thirst, tidal fever (a burst of heat, feeling that the heat is penetrating from inside the bones to the outside), internal heat and thirst (internal heat accompanied by symptoms of overeating and excessive urination), and intestinal dryness and constipation.
The Chinese herbal medicine can be decocted, often take 6-12g decoction soup for internal use; clearing heat and diarrhea, nourishing yin and moistening dryness should be used in raw form, and into the kidney to lower fire and nourish yin should be used in saline hot water. This drug is cold in nature and has the effect of sliding the intestines, so it should be taken with caution for people with spleen deficiency and loose stools (spleen deficiency resulting in scanty and unformed feces).
