What to do if you have recurring bad acne

Acne is also known as acne vulgaris. Recurrent bad acne may be related to incomplete treatment, excessive mental stress, endocrine disorders, etc. The condition can be improved through general treatment and medication.
1. Incomplete treatment: Since acne is caused by the propagation of Propionibacterium acnes and other reasons, when patients do not have complete treatment, it may lead to recurrent condition. Patients should use topical antibiotics, such as fusidic acid cream, erythromycin ointment, etc.; benzoyl peroxide; adapalene gel, etc. for treatment, or oral antibiotics, such as minocycline, etc. for treatment.
2. Excessive mental stress: patients should pay attention to rest, ensure adequate sleep, maintain a good mood, avoid excessive mental stress, tension, anxiety and other adverse emotional stimuli.
3. Endocrine disorders: If high androgen causes acne difficult to be cured, oral contraceptive compound cyproterone acetate tablets can be taken, which is suitable for female patients with moderate or severe acne, accompanied by the manifestation of high androgen level (e.g., hirsutism, seborrhea, etc.) or polycystic ovary syndrome. Application of oral contraceptives may also be considered for female patients with delayed acne and significant exacerbation of acne before menstruation.
In addition, patients should eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, high-protein foods, drink more water to replenish the body’s moisture in time, exercise more to strengthen the physical fitness, and avoid staying up late for a long time to avoid disrupting the normal physiological pattern.
Acne patients should actively seek medical attention, standardized treatment under the guidance of the doctor. Drugs need to be used in accordance with the doctor’s instructions, do not self-medication.
