Pain at the Zhongfu point suggests a possible chest or lung condition or shoulder and back pain.
The Zhongfu point, belonging to the Hand Taiyin Lung meridian, is located in the transverse flat 1st intercostal space of the chest, lateral to the infraclavicular fossa, and 6 inches off the anterior median line. The anatomical position is at the pectoralis major and pectoralis minor muscles, and the medial deep layer is the 1st intercostal internal and external muscles; there are axillary static and arterial, thoracic shoulder peak static and arterial on the upper and outer sides; there are the middle branch of supraclavicular nerve, the thoracic anterior nerve branch and the lateral cutaneous branch of the 1st intercostal nerve.
Zhongfu acupoint can treat cough, asthma, chest pain and other chest and lung diseases, but also can treat shoulder and back pain. According to the basic theory of Chinese medicine, “if you don’t pass, it hurts,” and the “proximal therapeutic effect” of acupuncture points, pain at the Zhongfu point suggests that it may be shoulder and back pain or a chest or lung condition.
It is important to note that if a patient experiences pain at the Zhongfu point, it is recommended to go to a regular medical institution to avoid delaying the condition.
