What to learn from the 100-year-old female Dr. Huaxi?

Tonight I had the honor to attend the 100th birthday of Dr. Zhang Qiongxian, the first female dentist in China. More than 200 people from Huaxi gathered together to greet and bless Zhang, and it was a lively scene. The head of the Department of Prosthodontics used a slide show to tell the story of Zhang Qiongxian, which was very touching to the core. Although Zhang did not have a brilliant life, but with her beautiful heart, she silently nourished the students’ heart to seek knowledge and truth, and with her dexterous hands, she repaired the patients’ injuries and let them live a healthy and happy life. Isn’t this what we, doctors and teachers, should do? Truth, goodness and beauty are gradually buried in the hustle and bustle of life, and many people are chasing after them in a haze, but truth and freedom are gradually moving away. It is Zhang Lao’s bumpy but flat experience that tells us that what she insisted on in her life is the real wealth of being a human being. When you give flowers to others, your hands are left with fragrance. So, what comes to my mind is: in the hot summer day, Zhang Lao gave us where is what gardenia, that is true love, goodwill and good wishes. Today, I met to my mentor Professor Zhao Yunfeng again, and now she, after overcoming the torment of cancer, appeared again in a radiant manner. I sincerely wish my teachers Zhang and Zhao, as well as the teachers at Huaxi, a long and healthy life, and I also wish my classmate – Fan Xu – a speedy victory over leukemia and a return to our midst.
