Half-summer, thick-park soup is usually taken by decoction with water, and it is recommended to consult a doctor before taking it. Hanxia Houpu Tang consists of Hanxia, Houpu, Poria, Ginger and Su Ye, and is usually taken with water. Among them, Hanxia resolves phlegm and disperses lumps, subdues rebelliousness and harmonizes the stomach, and acts as a monarch; Houpu subdues the qi and eliminates fullness (enabling the qi to flow downward to alleviate the discomfort of distension and fullness), and acts as an official; Poria seeps out the dampness and strengthens the spleen, Ginger harmonizes the stomach and stops vomiting to check the toxicity of Hanxia, Su Ye regulates the lungs and soothes the liver, and acts as an adjuvant together. Thus, Hanxia Houpu Tang has the efficacy of promoting qi and dispersing knots (to make the body’s qi smooth and dissolve the knots), lowering the rebellious and resolving phlegm (to correct the retrograde qi and remove phlegm from the body), and is commonly used in the treatment of prunus qi (similar to pharyngeal hypersensitivity), which is characterized by obstruction of the pharynx, inability to gag or vomit, difficulty in swallowing, fullness of the chest and diaphragm, and coughing or vomiting, among other symptoms. It is not suitable for those who are suffering from qi depression and fire, and those who are suffering from yin injury and low fluid. It is recommended that patients in need of treatment should seek medical advice and take medication under the guidance of a doctor.
