What causes bleeding in the fundus of the eye?

Bleeding in the fundus is associated with a variety of causes, usually due to bleeding from blood vessels in the retina or choroid of the eye. Some inflammatory reactions in the eye, such as retinal peripapillary retinitis, can cause bleeding from leaking blood vessel walls; in addition, high myopia, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy can also cause bleeding in the fundus.
