Increased lung texture may be caused by physiologic factors or related to certain diseases. 1. Physiologic factors: Physiologic increased lung texture is mainly seen in women, obese people, the elderly, infants and children. In women, increased lung texture can occur because of the overlap between the breasts and the lower lobes of the lungs on the image. Obese people may have the illusion of increased lung texture due to excess subcutaneous fat. Elderly people may have increased lung texture due to the abundance of interstitium in the lungs. Infants and young children can also have increased lung texture due to immature lung development and inability to cooperate well during the examination. 2. Diseases: Diseases such as bronchial infections and chronic bronchitis can cause increased lung texture. Long-term smokers may also have increased lung texture. There are many causes of increased lung texture. If it is caused by diseases, it is recommended to go to the hospital for timely treatment.
