Epiphyllum is poisonous. Cannonical epiphyllums are divided into salt epiphyllums, black shun slices and so on. The difference between raw and shelled epiphyllum is that shelled epiphyllum is less toxic than raw epiphyllum. It is mainly used to treat heart yang deficiency, chest paralysis (chest pain), heart pain, cold vomiting and diarrhea, cold pain in the epigastric region (cold pain in the stomach and abdomen), kidney yang deficiency, impotence and uterine cold. It is contraindicated for Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of Yang and pregnant women; it is not suitable to be used with half-summer, piper betel, pollen of smallpox, Sichuan shellfish, Zhejiang shellfish, Ampelopsis japonica, Baihe and so on.
