Usually there are no fruits that need to be avoided in SLE nephritis, but figs, lemons, pineapples and other fruits are not recommended, and if the patients are combined with hyperkalemia or develop renal insufficiency, they need to avoid fruits containing more potassium.
There are mostly no obvious dietary contraindications for SLE nephritis patients, but fruits such as figs, lemons and pineapples are generally not recommended. This is because these foods contain ingredients that, when consumed and distributed in the skin, may increase the absorption of ultraviolet rays by the skin, leading to the aggravation of rashes in patients with lupus erythematosus.
In addition, ingredients such as greens, celery, mushrooms, and shiitake mushrooms also tend to induce or exacerbate photosensitivity, and these ingredients should be consumed sparingly. If patients with SLE nephritis are usually combined with hyperkalemia or have renal insufficiency, they need to avoid fruits with high potassium content, such as banana, cinnamon, mango, and so on.
SLE patients should try to eat a light and easy-to-digest diet, with as little fatty food as possible, and advocate low-sugar or miscellaneous food diet, and eat more calcium-containing food, such as kelp, milk, sesame paste, etc.
Patients with SLE nephritis are advised to go to regular hospitals and follow the doctor’s instructions for a reasonable diet.
