How long can you live on targeted drugs for advanced brain metastases from lung cancer?

The specific survival time of brain metastasis of advanced lung cancer taking targeted drugs has some individual differences, ranging from several months to several years. Small cell lung cancer grows very fast and after brain metastasis occurs, it can cause the patient to die from brain hernia within 3 months at the earliest. Slower-growing non-small cell lung cancers may survive up to 1 year and beyond. Lung cancer patients with mutations in their genetic tests can be treated with targeted drugs, and patients with high sensitivity to oral targeted drugs have significantly longer survival. Some patients with genetic mutations can survive up to 1 year or more after receiving targeted therapy, but some of them may develop drug resistance, thus shortening the survival period. In addition to targeted therapy, whole brain radiotherapy, systemic chemotherapy can also prolong the survival of patients with brain metastases. Patients with advanced brain metastases from lung malignant tumors taking targeted drugs orally are advised to consult oncology in regular hospitals.
