Ultrasound Guided Nerve Blocks and Pain Management

Nerve block is a major tool for effective treatment of various chronic pains. It is widely used in the treatment of cervicogenic pain, cancer pain, low back pain, and nerve entrapment pain. A nerve block is an injection of local anesthetic around a nerve trunk, plexus, or ganglion to block its impulse conduction and produce anesthesia and analgesia in the area it innervates. A nerve block requires only one injection to obtain a large area of anesthesia and good analgesia. Previously, nerve blocks were performed by treating physicians according to body surface markers or under X-ray or CT guidance. The lack of anatomical information of soft tissues in X-ray and CT-guided nerve blocks makes the puncture operation difficult and may damage the blood vessels and organs at the puncture site, which may cause serious complications. Ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and pain management have been carried out with good results. The use of real-time ultrasound can clearly display the vast majority of peripheral nerves and their surrounding anatomical structures to precisely target treatment targets. Ultrasound can also clearly show the alignment and structure of the peripheral nerves and their major branches, which allows ultrasound-guided nerve blocks to be highly specific and selective, improving the effectiveness of treatment. Ultrasound can also display the location of the puncture needle in real time, thus greatly improving the accuracy of the puncture, and on the one hand, obtaining better treatment results, and on the other hand, greatly reducing the occurrence of complications. At present, the ultrasound-guided nerve blocks and pain treatment we perform are: 1. Ultrasound-guided cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal nerve root and posterior medial branch blocks: used for the treatment of pain in the collar and thoracic back. 2. 2.Ultrasound-guided lumbar paravertebral sympathetic ganglion and ventral plexus block. 3.Ultrasound-guided brachial plexus nerve block: for the treatment of upper limb pain. 4.Ultrasound-guided phrenic nerve block: for the treatment of intractable eruption. 5.Ultrasound-guided suprascapular nerve and dorsal scapular nerve block: for the treatment of pain in the shoulder and scapular region. 6.Ultrasound-guided stellate ganglion block: for the treatment of upper chest cancer pain and intractable upper limb vasospastic disease. 7.Ultrasound-guided ulnar nerve, radial nerve and median nerve block: for the treatment of localized regional pain in the upper limb. 8.Ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block and its branches, ultrasound-guided femoral nerve placement analgesia: for the treatment of anterior thigh pain and knee pain, and the treatment of postoperative knee pain. 9.Ultrasound-guided sciatic nerve block and its branches: for the treatment of hip, posterior thigh and calf pain. 10.Ultrasound-guided lateral femoral cutaneous nerve block: for the treatment of lateral thigh pain. 11.Ultrasound-guided closed-hole nerve block: for the treatment of medial thigh pain.
