What to do with prickly heat

Prickly heat, a superficial, inflammatory skin condition triggered by environmental factors (heat, sweltering), is caused by poor sweat drainage or rupture of sweat ducts and spillage of sweat into the surrounding tissues. Prickly heat can be treated by general treatment, topical medication and oral medication.
1. General treatment: patients with prickly heat need to keep their skin as clean and dry as possible, and try to choose cotton and loose breathable clothing to reduce the friction of clothing on the skin. Patients can also use ice packs to apply cold compresses on the affected areas to relieve itching and pain.
2. Topical medication: patients can use glycerin lotion and prickly heat powder to relieve itching, and mupirocin ointment can be used to treat prickly heat combined with infection.
3. Oral medicine: prickly heat pustules patients can take oral amoxicillin, roxithromycin and other antibiotics for treatment, itching serious patients can take oral loratadine and other antihistamines for relief.
It is recommended that patients do not scratch the affected area with their hands to prevent scratching the skin and causing infection. During the hot season, pay attention to the prevention of summer heat and keep the skin dry. If you feel unwell, you should consult a doctor in time. The medication should be used according to the doctor’s instructions, do not self-medicate.
