The five-year survival rate of stage III gastric cancer is about 30% to 50%. Stage III gastric cancer is often accompanied by lymph node metastasis or invasion of surrounding organs, and these patients have relatively large tumor load and poor prognosis. Stage III gastric cancer also has a certain cure rate. With active surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other comprehensive treatments, some patients can completely eliminate tumor cells and achieve radical cure, which will not affect the life expectancy of these patients. After treatment, some stage III gastric cancers will have recurrence and metastasis, and progress to advanced gastric cancer, which will be incurable and have shorter survival period.
