How to Self-Test for Alzheimer’s Disease

There is no self-test for Alzheimer’s disease. Signs can be detected in the areas of memory, language aspect, orientation and calculation.
1. Memory: The patient’s memory loss includes the patient will often forget some things that have been done and cannot find some things. The patient will often have repetitive behaviors such as asking the same questions over and over again.
2. Language: the onset of this disease may appear slurred speech, utterances are not fluent and other symptoms.
3. Orientation: time orientation, e.g. not knowing the day, month, day, etc.; person orientation, e.g. not recognizing previously familiar people; place orientation, e.g. not knowing the location of home, etc.
4. Numeracy: e.g. inaccurate calculation of 100 minus 7 in a row.
Self-assessment of Alzheimer’s disease is inaccurate, and it is recommended to visit a neurologist for professional judgment of cognitive status.
