The contraindication to Chengshan acupoint is that strong stimulation should not be done at the acupoint. This point has the effect of relaxing the tendons and activating the channels (stretching the tendons and bones, dredging the meridians), dispersing cold and dispelling dampness, etc., and should be operated and treated by a doctor. Chengshan acupoint is approximately at the midpoint of the line connecting Kunlun acupoint and Commissioning acupoint, at the tip of the depression of the two muscle bellies of the gastrocnemius muscle. The main contraindication for this point is that it should not be strongly stimulated when performing operations such as needling, so as not to cause spasm of the gastrocnemius muscle. Chengshan point has the efficacy of clearing away heat, relaxing the tendons and activating the collaterals. It is mainly used for treating lumbar and leg constriction (body spasm and convulsion due to wind-cold sensation) and pain, constipation and hemorrhoidal diseases. Chengshan acupoint with Fengshi acupoint, Huanjiu acupoint, Kunlun acupoint, Huizhong acupoint, Shenwei acupoint can treat back pain; with Yangling acupoint, Huizhong acupoint, Kunlun acupoint can treat leg pain; with Chengjin acupoint, Kunlun acupoint, Xiaolian acupoint can treat heel pain; with Changqiang acupoint, Erbai acupoint can treat hemorrhoidal diseases, and so on. The treatment of diseases with Chengshan acupoints should be carried out under the operation of a doctor.
