What to do if you have a hoarse voice and fever

Hoarseness and fever are mostly caused by acute laryngitis. Treatment mainly includes general treatment, physical therapy, medication and surgery.
1. General treatment: pay attention to rest, quit smoking and limiting alcohol, drink more water, eat a light diet, and maintain nasal, pharyngeal and oral hygiene.
2. Physical therapy: If the body temperature is lower than 38.5℃, you can use warm towels to wipe the armpits and other parts of the body for physical cooling.
3. Drug therapy: Early administration of a sufficient amount of broad-spectrum antibiotics such as penicillin, cefotaxime sodium, etc.; can be combined with the use of glucocorticoids such as dexamethasone. Treatment can be given by nebulized inhalation, oral or intravenous infusion depending on the severity of the disease. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, antipyretic and analgesic drugs such as acetaminophen can be used.
4. Surgery: If medication fails to relieve acute laryngitis or is accompanied by laryngeal obstruction, surgical tracheotomy should be performed in time.
It is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible when you have a hoarse voice and fever, and standardize the treatment under the doctor’s guidance. The above medicines should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid buying medicines on your own.
