Can intussusception heal itself?

Intussusception is usually difficult to heal spontaneously, but it is possible to heal spontaneously if the condition is mild, which is usually extremely rare. Intussusception is a complete or incomplete obstruction of the intestine caused by the passage of the intestinal contents of a segment of the intestine into the cavity to which it is attached. It is a serious condition that typically presents with abdominal pain, vomiting, blood in the stool and abdominal masses. In most cases, once intussusception is detected, an aggressive gas enema needs to be given to observe the changes in its condition. If there is recurrent intussusception, surgical treatment should be performed immediately to relieve the symptoms of intussusception. If the condition is delayed, it may cause complications such as intestinal perforation and intestinal necrosis, which may even be life-threatening. If intussusception is mild or occurs in a small number of children, it is not life-threatening if it can be automatically reset by applying heat or local pressure. During the recovery period, patients with intussusception should pay attention to a regular diet and not to exercise vigorously to avoid recurrence.
