The nature of such a particle is first clarified. If they are round to the touch, relatively soft in texture, with a smooth surface and good mobility, they are usually cystic swellings, lipomas or fascial nodules. Rheumatoid nodules are also similar to the above symptoms, as are lymph nodes when they are increased. Less commonly, parasites can form similar granules. An ultrasound is needed to determine the nature of the granules and their blood flow. If the granules are painful, the surface is not smooth, the mobility is poor, and there is localized redness and swelling, they should be surgically removed and pathologically examined to exclude the possibility of malignant masses.
