What to do about the redness and pain at the end of the eyes

The redness and pain at the end of the eye may be due to bacterial infection, which can cause wheals and pinholes. This condition is commonly associated with bacterial septic inflammation caused by fatigue or poor eye hygiene and usually requires topical treatment with anti-inflammatory medications. The use of levofloxacin or tobramycin drops, 4-6 times/day, together with ointment of hyoscine, 2-3 times/day, especially at bedtime, is a good absorption. However, if the redness and swelling are still evident and increase after 2-3 days of topical application, oral antibiotics, such as cephalosporin or amoxicillin, are required for treatment. Such topical eye drops and systemic oral medication will have a better anti-inflammatory effect and will shorten the course of treatment.
