How long can you live with tuberculosis?

The life expectancy of TB patients is related to the severity of the disease, the presence of complications, and the availability of regular treatment. Most patients can be cured by active and regular treatment and life expectancy will not be affected. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease, and patients need to be treated regularly under the guidance of a doctor, adhering to the principles of early, combined, appropriate, regular and full medication, and strictly implementing the treatment plan during the treatment period, without changing or stopping the medication at will. A small number of patients have drug-resistant tuberculosis, which is difficult to treat and has a relatively long course of treatment. If the patient’s general condition is poor and previous medication is complicated, it may be difficult to cure and even affect life expectancy, and in severe cases, death may occur within 5-10 years. Patients are advised to take regular and strict medication as prescribed during TB treatment, to enhance their nutritional diet, to supplement high-quality protein, which helps to strengthen resistance and immunity, and to prohibit smoking.
