Can scoliosis heal on its own?

Whether scoliosis can heal on its own is determined by the cause of the scoliosis. Other than compensatory scoliosis, scoliosis caused by other reasons can not be self-healing. 1. Compensated scoliosis: compensated scoliosis caused by herniated disc or low back pain is the only type of scoliosis that can be self-healed, and may recover naturally with pain relief. 2. Others, such as congenital scoliosis, are certainly not likely to recover naturally because of abnormalities in the development of the vertebrae. The most common idiopathic scoliosis usually does not recover naturally. 3. Scoliosis should be treated according to the degree of measurement. For example, scoliosis below 25 degrees can be observed, while scoliosis above 25 degrees needs to be treated with a brace, which should be worn before the bones have stopped growing. If the bones have stopped growing, adult scoliosis bracing is not effective. If the scoliosis exceeds a certain degree, e.g. 50 degrees or more, surgery is required, and it is impossible to wait for the scoliosis to heal on its own. After the patient is discharged from surgery, regular follow-ups are necessary to observe bone healing and maintenance of correction. Generally it is necessary to take pictures for follow-up at 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years and 5 years after surgery. It is recommended to maintain good sitting and standing posture in daily life. Once spinal abnormality is detected, you should seek medical attention and cooperate with your doctor to avoid delay.
