Wisdom teeth don’t grow in everyone.
1. Wisdom teeth are also known as the 3rd molar, and according to statistics, nearly 1/3 of people do not have wisdom teeth, while nearly 2/3 of people may have 1~4 wisdom teeth. In general, the growth of wisdom teeth is related to the presence or absence of permanent wisdom tooth germs in an individual.
2. Wisdom teeth do not usually grow if there are no wisdom tooth germs present; if there are wisdom tooth germs present, wisdom teeth may erupt. The number of wisdom teeth is affected by the length and width of the sockets. The eruption time of wisdom teeth varies from person to person. Some people have wisdom teeth before the age of twenty, while others do not start to grow wisdom teeth until the age of forty or fifty.
3. Influenced by the width of the alveolar bone, some people may have wisdom teeth that are blocked when they erupt. Wisdom teeth are blocked by gum tissues or bone tissues and cannot erupt completely or horizontally, which may easily cause pericoronitis of wisdom teeth, thus causing problems such as swollen and painful gums and restricted opening.
