Are there any sequelae to a radius fracture?

When a radial fracture occurs, most patients will not have sequelae if treated promptly and with proper treatment by the physician, such as timely repositioning and fixation, and with regular rehabilitation. Radial fracture is a common condition, mostly due to direct violence. If a patient does not receive timely medical attention after a flexor fracture, or if inappropriate treatment is given, sequelae may remain, mainly ulnar deviation deformity, radial deviation deformity or meal fork-like deformity. If the deformity does not affect the daily life, no special treatment is needed. If the deformity is obvious and wrist movement is restricted, treatment is required. If the deformity is found in the early stage, conservative treatment can be performed by manipulation under anesthesia. If the symptoms appear in the late stage and the manipulation is ineffective, surgical treatment is considered to correct the deformity by cutting and repositioning and giving internal fixation. Therefore, after the occurrence of flexural fracture, patients should consult a doctor promptly and take the correct treatment after a clear diagnosis is given by a professional orthopedic surgeon to avoid leaving sequelae.
