Herbal remedies for frozen shoulder

There are many Chinese herbal formulas for treating frozen shoulder, including Dokwo Sangsang Soup, Body Pain and Blood Stasis Dispelling Soup, Angelica sinensis and Chicken Blood Vine Soup, and so on. 1. Wind-cold and dampness obstruction syndrome: manifested as pain around the shoulder joint, aggravated by cold and reduced by warmth, with pale red tongue, white moss, and tight pulse, using Duo Wu Sheng Tang, which is composed of Duo Wu, Morus alba, Gentiana scabra, Fenghuang, Xin Xin, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparatae, Paeoniae Lactiflorae, Cinnamomum Cassiaeum, Poriae, Dulcimer, Cortex Eucommiae, Radix Achyranthis Brevicornis, Radix Panax ginseng, and Licorice. 2. Blood stasis and obstruction syndrome: manifested by pain and discomfort around the shoulder joint, tingling, especially at night, with dark red tongue, petechiae and bruises, and astringent pulse, using Body Pain and Bruising Soup, composed of Radix Gentiana Macrophylla, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati, Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati, Safflower, Glycyrrhiza Uralensis, Qianghao, Myrrh, Lingyi, Radix Bupleuri, Rhizoma Cyperus, Cortex Pinnatifida, and Dilophylus. 3. Qi and blood deficiency: manifested as pain around the shoulder joint, accompanied by pale face, pale tongue, white moss and weak pulse, using Angelica and Chicken Blood Vine Soup, composed of Angelica sinensis and chicken blood vine.
