Occasional bedwetting in adults may be caused by physiologic factors such as drinking too much water and eating foods with high water content, or it may be caused by pathologic factors such as overactive bladder syndrome and urethral syndrome.
1. Physiological factors.
If you drink too much water before going to bed, or eat water-rich foods such as watermelon or winter melon, you may have a full bladder. If you go into a deep sleep at night and can’t urinate in time, you may experience bedwetting, so it is normal for adults to have bedwetting once in a while.
2. Pathologic factors.
(1) Overactive bladder syndrome: the etiology of overactive bladder syndrome is still unclear, and it is considered to be related to abnormal nerve conduction and underdevelopment of urinary function. Patients will have urinary urgency, urinary frequency, nocturia, urge incontinence and other manifestations, so that adults will have the symptom of bedwetting once in a while.
(2) Urethral syndrome: the etiology of urethral syndrome has not been clarified, and it is mostly believed to be related to urethral muscle spasm, infection, bladder sensory hypersensitivity and other factors. Patients will have symptoms such as urinary pain, urinary urgency, urinary frequency, urge incontinence, increased nocturia, etc., thus adults will have the symptom of bedwetting once in a while.
Bedwetting in adults may also be caused by other factors. Adults once in a while bedwetting in the exclusion of physiological factors, need to consider is caused by disease, the patient should consult a doctor in a timely manner, can be in a clear cause of treatment as prescribed by the doctor, and strive for early recovery.
