Can I breastfeed while breastfeeding?

A woman with diarrhea while breastfeeding can continue to breastfeed, but should not do so while being treated with antibiotics. When diarrhea occurs during breastfeeding, it should not be treated with drugs prematurely while actively looking for the cause. First of all, it can be treated with a light diet and moderate amount of rice soup, which is good for treating diarrhea, as well as safe methods such as eating steamed apples, drinking plenty of light salt water, and in severe cases, intestinal mucosal adsorbents such as montmorillonite. After effective treatment it can usually be significantly relieved, but if its effect is poor after more than 2 days of treatment, antibiotics can be used when breastfeeding is stopped. This is because most of the antibiotic’s will be metabolized by breast milk and thus ingested by the child, affecting the growth and development of the child. In conclusion, there are many safe non-pharmaceutical treatments for diarrhea during breastfeeding that do not interfere with breastfeeding. If there is no relief for more than 2 days, antibiotics should be used and the breast milk should be emptied using a breast pump at this time and breastfeeding should not continue.
