Chinese medicine does not have the expression of enhancing immunity, which can be understood as enhancing the positive qi of the human body and preventing the invasion of diseases and evils into the human body. Therefore, traditional Chinese medicines that can enhance immunity, i.e., positive qi, include ginseng, astragalus, and huang jing.
1. Ginseng: ginseng has the effect of replenishing vital energy, tonifying the spleen and lungs, generating fluid and nourishing blood, restoring the pulse and fixing the loss (restoring the normal pulse, preventing and controlling the disease of loss of vitality), and tranquilizing the spirit and benefiting the intellect, and it can be used to treat the symptoms of qi deficiency and desire for loss of vitality, deficiency and weakness of prolonged illness, impotence and coldness of uterus, deficiency of the spleen and food, deficiency of the lungs, wheezing and coughing, deficiency of the vital energy and fluid, deficiency of the heart, and palpitation and insomnia.
2. Astragalus: tonifying qi and promoting yang, stopping sweating by consolidating the surface of the muscle, promoting diuresis, promoting the production of fluid and nourishing blood, promoting stagnation and paralysis (making the paralyzed meridians smooth), supporting the toxin and draining pus (discharging pus and poison from the body), converging sores and regenerating the muscle (helping sores to heal more quickly, and promoting the growth of new flesh).
Used for qi deficiency and fatigue, loose food (feces thin and not shaped), the qi sinking (spleen and stomach qi deficiency, visceral organs fall and other manifestations), surface deficiency sweating (due to the weakness of the surface of the muscle frequent natural sweating), qi deficiency edema, internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by more food, more drinking, more urine and other symptoms), blood deficiency and yellowing and other conditions.
3. Huang Jing: It has the effect of tonifying qi and nourishing yin, moistening the lungs, strengthening the spleen and benefiting the kidneys, and it can treat deficiency of spleen and stomach qi, insufficient stomach yin (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach), tiredness and fatigue, dry mouth and little food, coughing in the lungs, insufficient essence and blood, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, and internal heat and thirst. It is not suitable for those with spleen deficiency and dampness obstruction, phlegm-dampness congestion, stagnation of qi and fullness.
