Is there any prescription for facial spasm?

Some patients want to use simple and effective means of facial muscle spasm treatment, always afraid that using Western medicine will be more painful. Briefly, we will introduce several methods for you. Some drugs can control facial jumping. Theoretically, some drugs for epilepsy have a controlling effect on facial myoclonus, and the most commonly used clinically is carbamazepine. However, drugs such as carbamazepine only temporarily relieve symptoms and cannot achieve the purpose of a cure. Moreover, long-term use of carbamazepine can lead to drug resistance. Not only that, taking carbamazepine for a long time also brings some side effects, such as dizziness and drowsiness; it also tends to cause general edema and urinary retention, which can cause damage to liver and kidneys; it also damages hematopoietic function and causes leukopenia; it also has an effect on the skin, causing allergies, rashes and blisters, etc. Therefore, medication for facial spasm is not a long-term solution and is not recommended for long-term use. Folk Chinese medicine prescriptions The root cause of facial muscle spasm is the compression of the facial nerve by blood vessels, whether it is Chinese medicine or prescriptions, it is impossible to remove this cause and can only play a temporary role in controlling the symptoms. Regardless of which medicine is used, even if it is effective, there will be side effects, for example, some prescriptions can damage the nerves and can lead to mild facial paralysis, which is difficult to return to normal later. It has been proven that Chinese medicine or prescriptions cannot solve the underlying problem, but will instead cause many other problems, that is, they will not cure the disease but bring about other diseases as a result. Botox injections Botox injections only temporarily control the symptoms. Botulinum toxin is actually a toxic protein secreted by Clostridium botulinum and has been used clinically since 1986. The main mechanism of action is that botulinum toxin blocks the signal transmission at the neuromuscular junction, making the nerve unable to command the muscle movement. However, the effect of Botox is relatively short, after the first injection, it can be managed for six months, after the second injection can be managed for three months, after the third injection can only be managed for about a month, and then injected again is often of little use. Moreover, multiple injections of Botox can cause irreversible damage, such as facial muscle atrophy, mild facial paralysis, and drooping corners of the eyes and mouth. Therefore, Botox injections are not recommended for patients unless you have an urgent need for them. These treatments cannot cure facial muscle spasm on the one hand, and on the other hand, they can easily cause unnecessary injuries to patients, waste time and money, and cost too much. So once you have facial spasm, the best approach is microvascular decompression. At present, the treatment is complete by means of microvascular decompression surgery, which is to separate the blood vessels from the nerves, so that the blood vessels no longer stimulate the facial nerve when beating, and fundamentally solve the facial muscle spasm, and there is no problem to cure the facial muscle spasm.
