Mucus gland cysts are basically not cancerous, they are only localized cysts that form when the gland is exuding or is blocked. Exudative mucous cysts are pockets of secretions from the gland that accumulate somewhere outside the gland. Retained mucous cysts are cysts that form when the duct is blocked for some reason, causing the duct to become blocked and dilated, and the secretion is retained. Regardless of the type of mucus gland cyst, it is a fluid secreted by some glands and is generally not likely to become cancerous. Only as such cysts increase in size, they produce symptoms of pressure, and sometimes mucous gland cysts are prone to infection, leading to pain, mucinous edema, etc. If a mucus gland cyst has obvious symptoms, it is usually better to consider removing it to alleviate the symptoms and reduce the impact of the cyst on the body’s function, but there is no need to worry about it becoming cancerous.
