Alcohol consumption is not recommended for chronic atrophic gastritis. Chronic atrophic gastritis is a type of chronic gastritis, which refers to gastritis characterized by atrophy of the gastric mucosal epithelium and glands, reduction in number, thinning of the gastric mucosa, or atypical hyperplasia. Common causes include Helicobacter pylori infection, autoimmunity, duodeno-gastric reflux, drugs and poisons. Among them, alcohol is the most common cause of damage to the stomach, and ingesting alcohol leads to damage to the gastric mucosa, with the risk of triggering or exacerbating atrophic gastritis. Therefore, patients with chronic atrophic gastritis are not recommended to drink alcohol, and according to the condition of the eradication of Helicobacter pylori, protect the gastric mucosa, improve gastric dynamics and other targeted treatment, in order to avoid delaying the condition, resulting in adverse effects.
