Introduction to preconception laparoscopic ring ligation with cervical isthmus

Cervical cerclage is an effective treatment for cervical insufficiency and has a high success rate of about 60%-87% when performed either vaginally or transabdominally. 1998 Lesser et al. attempted laparoscopic cervical cerclage with success and the success rate was reported to be 94%-98% when combined with various reports. The anatomical placement of the laparoscopic band at the endocervix is very accurate, avoiding the disadvantages of a lower transvaginal banding position and leaving foreign bodies in the vagina. Preconception banding can be an effective alternative treatment for patients with cervical insufficiency who have a history of mid-pregnancy miscarriage and failed transvaginal cerclage.
