Hiccups and belching are mainly due to the following causes: 1) dysfunction of the stomach, mainly due to lack of sleep and cold, and acute gastroenteritis, which leads to decreased peristaltic function of the stomach and food retention, causing belching symptoms; 2) gastritis, gastric ulcer, and gastric erosion, whose inflammation can lead to decreased digestion in the stomach and food retention, resulting in belching; 3) gastric polyps and tumors in the stomach, which are mainly due to the stimulation of the stomach wall by tumors, resulting in insufficient separation of digestive juices in the stomach and decreased peristaltic activity of the stomach, causing hiccups and belching symptoms.
