What’s this bulbous lump in the spermatic cord?

A bulbous lump in the spermatic cord may be due to spermatic effusion or varicocele, etc. It is recommended to go to the hospital for examination. 1. Spermathecal effusion: If the middle spermatic sac is not closed and the sheaths at both ends are closed, the increase of fluid in the spermatic sac may result in the formation of a cyst. If the amount of fluid is small or asymptomatic, treatment may not be needed; if the amount of fluid is large, accompanied by swelling and pain, tugging sensation, etc., the sheath sac needs to be removed completely by surgery. 2. Varicose veins of the spermatic cord: due to the venous insufficiency of the veins of the spermatic cord or the weakness of the smooth muscle and elastic fiber of the vessel wall of the vein plexus, the blood is blocked in the vein and protrudes in the form of a mass. It is usually asymptomatic or less symptomatic, and can be treated with a scrotal band or tight underwear; if the symptoms are severe, surgical treatment, such as spermatic vein ligation, is required. There may be other reasons for a bulbous lump in the spermatic cord, and prompt medical attention is recommended.
