How can I protect my ears?

Ear Care Tips: 1. Avoid ototoxic drugs such as streptomycin, gentamicin, kanamycin, neomycin, quinine and their derivatives to avoid drug-induced deafness. Infants and young children have an underdeveloped inner ear and are susceptible to the effects of drugs, so these drugs should be banned. 2. Avoid all kinds of noise. Prolonged exposure to noise such as roaring machines, loud people, gongs and drums can cause the microscopic blood vessels in the inner ear to be in spasm, reducing the blood supply to the inner ear and causing hearing loss. 3. It is best to listen to music with bare ears and take a break once an hour to listen to overly intense music; light music and slower pop music can take a break once every 100 minutes; the time spent with cell phones should be controlled within 10 minutes each time. If you need to wear headphones, it is best to use headphones, less earplugs. Do not continue to wear headphones for too long, not to wear headphones to sleep. 4. Avoid using “Walkman” or MP3 for a long time. When listening to MP3 or using cell phones, turn the volume to 40-50 decibels, which is clear enough, and do not exceed 60% of the maximum volume. 5. Avoid inappropriate ear digging. Don’t use small sticks or hairpins to dig your ears to stop itching, in order to prevent damage to the tympanic membrane deep in the ear canal and even cause traumatic tympanic membrane perforation and purulent otitis media, which can lead to different degrees of hearing loss. 6. Avoid the influence of high pressure around the ear. For example, when participating in sports such as swimming and diving, be careful not to let your ears touch the water surface first; when you encounter firecrackers, you should be 3 meters away from the scene or cover your ears with your hands; you should not hit people’s ears with your palms, etc. 7. Actively treat colds. Because the cold can affect the degree of ventilation of the eustachian tube (the tube from the pharynx to the middle ear cavity). In addition, if you blow your nose improperly, the germs in your nose will enter the middle ear cavity, which will easily cause otitis media and lead to hearing loss. 8. Eat a balanced diet and less high-fat food. The concentration of cholesterol in the blood is too high, causing atherosclerosis of the blood vessel walls, which reduces the blood supply to the inner ear and malnutrition of the auditory organs, leading to hearing loss or deafness. 9. Maintain a good state of mind. Excessive mood swings can cause spasm and contraction of capillaries throughout the body, resulting in serious slowdown of blood flow in the inner ear and microcirculatory disorders, which can cause lack of oxygen to the auditory nerve in the inner ear and lead to sudden deafness. 10. Live a regular life, do sports appropriately and prevent colds.
