Do kidney cysts need to be treated

Whether a kidney cyst needs treatment depends on the location and size of the cyst and whether the surrounding organs produce an occupying or compressive effect. If it is a simple renal cyst, less than 4 cm, usually no treatment is needed and regular review is sufficient. However, when the cyst is more than 5 cm in diameter, it may compress the tissues around the kidney and cause symptoms such as back pain and urinary urgency, then it is necessary to do cyst fluid aspiration surgery and also to inject sclerosing agent into the cyst. If the patient also suffers from hypertension and kidney disease, it is necessary to cooperate with symptomatic treatment, such as controlling the patient’s blood pressure. If the ultrasound report is complex renal cyst, it is recommended to perform imaging examinations such as enhanced CT, MRI and ultrasonography for further auxiliary identification and rating before deciding whether surgery is needed. Patients with renal cysts usually need to eat more high fiber and high fiber foods and do not have partial diet. Eat more fruits and vegetables, try not to eat spicy food, fried food, no alcohol, no sweets. In addition, have a positive and optimistic attitude, do not have too much pressure.
