Recommended protocol for post-operative care of funnel chest NUSS

       Day after surgery: in ICU supervision.  Day 1 after surgery: get up with assistance, sit in a chair or lean on the bed; rest in bed under nursing supervision; no flexion of the thoracic girdle; no rotation of the thoracic girdle; no rolling; deep breathing exercises every hour when awake.  Day 2 after surgery: get up with assistance and sit in a chair; try to get up and move with assistance as long as the pain is tolerable; no flexion of the thoracic girdle; no turning of the thoracic girdle; no rolling; deep breathing exercises every hour when awake.  Day 3 after surgery: get up and move with minimal assistance; hip flexion in supine position; move under nursing supervision; no flexion of the chest and waist; no rotation of the chest and waist; no rolling; deep breathing exercises every hour when awake; in general, the patient can be discharged when he/she can walk on his/her own without assistance.  The following instructions will help the patient to resume normal activities and reduce the displacement of the orthopedic plate; pay attention to the cleanliness of the incision and seek medical attention if there is any discomfort; walk regularly and normally; perform deep breathing exercises every morning and evening; keep the back straight and do not bend, twist or roll for one month after surgery; do not lift heavy objects for two months after surgery; do not engage in antagonistic sports (e.g., soccer, basketball) for three months after surgery. .  Since the implant needs to remain in the patient’s body for more than 2 years, the following points should be noted: no MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the chest and upper abdomen; if cardiac defibrillation is required, place the electrode plate in the anterior-posterior position for cardiac shock; if there is a significant deformation of the chest, follow up early; avoid direct collision with the chest.
