What time in the morning is the most accurate time to measure fasting blood glucose?

It is recommended that fasting blood glucose measurements be taken at 6-8 am for accuracy. Fasting blood glucose measurement requires that the patient must maintain an overnight fasting state, i.e., not eat any food for 8 to 10 hours, and perform a fasting blood glucose test the following morning. It is usually recommended that the test be done at 6-8 am, as it may be difficult to reflect the patient’s blood glucose value if the fasting blood draw is done too late in the morning, resulting in a decrease in the accuracy of the measurement. The normal range of fasting blood glucose is 3.9~6.1mmol/L. If necessary, a 2-hour postprandial blood glucose test is also needed, which generally refers to the blood glucose concentration measured 2 hours after the first bite of food. In case of abnormal blood glucose values, it is recommended to go to the hospital for consultation.
